Natural Cold Remedies

Even if a cold medicine is called "Non-Drowsey" I still feel light headed or under the influence of medication on top of my cold symptoms. Then an aftermath of taking a lot of cold meds is upset stomach, heartburn and not to mention advanced dehydration that you don't recognize until it's too late most of the time.                                       Even though whiskey isn't concidered Paleo according to Mark Sisson, and the only acceptable alcohol is "red wine in moderation" I feel that this is my own judgement against unnatural sedatives in cold care items.                                                      I just warm fresh organic lemon and orange juice in a small sauce pan, add honey or Agave and pour into a big mug with fresh grated cinnamon and raw ginger. Add a few ounces of whiskey and sip it really hot. It almost immediately relieved my sore throat and cough. Warmed me up and made me drowsey enought to sleep. I was well hydrated pre and post cold and flu, so that helps. I wouldn't recoomend this before work or anything but at night was nice.
Also, using Oil of Oregano is very helpful. I get chronic sinusitis/sinus infections everytime I get a cold or allergies. I used three doses a day at the height of my cold and was able to combate another sinus infection. Just be careful and follow directions. Herbs can be just as harmful as over the counter stuff if used to often or incorrectly.
